I spent a week here relaxing & enjoying a complete change of pace. Castellon de Bedar is a gem of a place with picture postcard views of the mountains, scenery around Bedar & as far as the coast. Clare & Shane were the most fantastic hosts, both were very warm, welcoming and accommodating. The whole experience was perfect & honestly wish I could have stayed for longer. The accommodation itself is beautiful, clean & relaxing, with your own balcony with views to die for. Thank you both for this amazing week, it was just what I needed. Hope to see you both again soon xxx
What our Guests Say
Below are a few of the reviews we've had about Castellón

We visited this beautiful place as a family (myself, my mother and both grandmothers) and was hands down the best experience I have had in Spain, let alone Bedar.
Clare and Shane are simply wonderful hosts and cannot do enough for you and my ring looks amazing! The value for money is incredible and not only did we get to take our silver ring home but whilst we were making the rings Shane had made us homemade cake, tea, coffee, lunch and cava with canapes.
Clare's skill is second to none and she patiently took the time to take us through every detail involved in making our ring just perfect. Even when I said the ring was absoultely perfect Clare took more time to shine every piece of metal inside and I was simply blown away.
Thank you Clare and Shane, you have given us memories and ring that we will all treasure for a lifetime.

Hi Clare & Shane,
We hope you are both well. Here's my review, which I will be sharing on social media too."My husband and I received a twisted silver ring workshop as a present from friends for our 25th wedding anniversary and it was the perfect way to celebrate that milestone. Clare was a brilliant teacher, very patient, and our finished rings are beautiful. We had such a sense of achievement and were very proud of ourselves. Every step was perfectly explained and it was fun too. Shane was in charge of refreshments, bringing us lovely homemade cake and then, afterwards, cava and canapés – yum!
My husband’s present to me was a night at Castellon de Bédar and we thoroughly enjoyed our night there. Our suite was beautifully decorated and the view from our terrace was breathtaking. Shane arranged a cold platter and wine for us, and we were made at home and completely spoilt. The hot tub was a treat too.
All in all, it was the perfect way to celebrate 25 years together. I highly recommend both the jewellery workshop and the luxury accommodation. We’ll be back!"

Hi Clare, hi Shane,
Thank you for your email and pic!
Thank you very much also for a most interesting, informative and achieving day!
Your skills and patience Clare are ‘second to none‘, and it was not until I was verbalising all the steps to my partner, that I realized just how much we had done and learned.
As to the culinary side - absolutely delicious food Shane and just right to sustain us through the day.
Wishing you both every success.
Cheers,
Kiwi Jo

Hi Clare and Shane
I just wanted to thank you so much for putting on the extra days ..... it’s was so worth the wait. I thoroughly enjoyed it and really chuffed with what I’ve achieved under Clare’s amazing guidance and help. Ok so it’s not perfectly round but not bad for my first session. As ever Shane, the cake was delicious and I am so pleased to have entertained you with my apron mishapMarie Mcwade from Bedar - August, 2020
What an amazing day and what an amazing experience.
For my birthday my husband Kevin treated me to a one to one session at Castellon de Bedar, under the guidance of Clare Purt, jeweller extraordinaire.
Having experienced Clare’s workshops, I already had an idea of what to expect, how wrong I was.
Shane the resident host and Chef, explained to me that it was my special day and I would be treated like royalty. So not to miss out on the opportunity I rose to the occasion and dusted off my Tiara (1,75€, no expense spared there) ready for the day.
So excited, I arrived early (unusual for me)
Greeted with ceremony at the door, offered tea and had my pick of workbench (very important)!
Clare and I discussed my project for the day. She also explained that she had a number of roles, my personal assistant (wow, someone to order about) but primarily to encourage and develop my skills, my mentor!
What a fantastic day.
I decided to bring the Crown Jewels for a polish (mostly from Woolworths) and set my PA to the task........
Meanwhile I set about my ‘project’, a vivid blue, Lapis lazuli, yin yang stone to be transformed into a pendant.
Lots of advice from Clare and shown new techniques I hadn’t used before.
Project completed in a day, photos included
Plus a write up from Clare of the techniques I used during the day. And, not forgetting the exceptional chef who excelled himself:-
Home made Victoria sponge for coffee break (my favourite)
Pigs cheeks in red wine and delicious fresh local vegetables for lunch, plus a surprise guest my husband Kevin .
And the climax for the day, canapés and cava!Well what a day , I was still buzzing when I got home.
A big thank you to Clare and Shane for an amazing and memorable day.
Also a big thank you to Kevin for my birthday treat xfrom - December, 2019
Where do I begin? I found this place in the summer when I attended one of Clare's jewellery making workshops. It blew my mind as the entire day was so special. When I wanted a special treat for my husband and I, I knew that this was the place for us to stay.
Clare and Shane have something really special at Castellon de Bedar. Not only have they created a beautiful home, guest house and jewellery workshop but they are superb hosts too. We wanted for nothing for our entire stay. Every detail is thought of and it's clear that their aim is to make guests feel completely relaxed as they spoil them - that's exactly what they did for us.
Our stay meant eating the best food I've ever had - Shane can cook!!! (And Clare's mash is incredible!). We chose to spend our days sat on the balcony looking at the gorgeous vista that changed frequently as the light changed with time - seriously, no TV is needed here! Our evenings involved sipping cava in the fabulous hot-tub that's nestled among twinkling lights and overlooking more gorgeous views!
Then there was the evening meal!! Walking down the steps to festive music, a lovely fire, the Christmas tree and Clare and Shane welcoming us was so special. The attention to detail and effort made to make our meal really memorable was just perfect. We sat at the beautiful table and looked out at that gorgeous view whilst they served us amazing food. It was the best meal experience that I've ever had!
There's so much more to say about this place but really anyone reading this just needs to know that it's incredible. If you want a very relaxing break in a truly beautiful setting with hosts that go that extra mile then this is the place. We've made magical memories - thank you Clare and Shane xRead lessfrom - December, 2019
Shane, Clare,I know you've heard it before but it has to be said.. what a fabulous day. All the ladies have messaged on our whatsApp group to say what a great time they had. You are the whole package - the location and your warmth just complements the jewellery making part and the food was delicious.I'm hoping we may have at least 4 to book a day in March. I personally would love to make a bangle - ordinarily I would look to buy another but now I want to make my own!We will definitely recommend to our fellow friends here at Desert Springs. All the best,Jacqui (and Dee, Sue, Elsa, Jaki and Elizabeth)Fran from Lublin , Almeria - February, 2019
It certainly was the most fabulous day!! I am so chuffed with my ring, and can't believe I actually made it myself (albeit with a lot of help from Clare. You have the most beautiful home and as hosts, you are second to none, as the saying goes. We were all overwhelmed with the splendour of the whole day, the venue, your home and all the creativity within it, the grounds and the amazing views, the super food Shane, and of course the skills and patience of Clare. She is amazing and so talented.I could not stop talking about it when I got home, and I know my husband would love to come and participate in a class. Perhaps a few of our other menfolk would like to too. We will certainly promote your business and hope that many others experience a day like we all had. Thank you both so much.Fran. xxJo from Northampton - February, 2019

Shane and Clare are the most accommodating hosts I have ever met. Nothing is too much trouble. their attention to detail turns this stunning guest house into the perfect place for a retreat. The quality of the room, the food and the hospitality are exceptional.
Did I mention the views, wow just wow - panoramic views of the mountains and the Andalucian coastline. You can sit in the hot tub, surrounded by twinkling lights, looking out at the view and drinking fizz- magical, it is what memories are made from.Gill from Spain - December, 2018
Just been back for our 2nd stay, this time for my birthday. It was magical! Clare and Shane are wonderful hosts, nothing is too much trouble and the dinner they cooked was fantastic. They even arranged a special surprise for me, they had strung lights all around the garden to make it like a wonderland! I cannot recommend them highly enough. Anyone who is in the area needs to go and stay!

What a find!! Had a thoroughly enjoyable experience at stunning Castellon de Bedar with the delightful silversmith Clare and ‘Chef’ Shane!! Clare patiently tutored us In making a ring out of three silver strands. We had a coffee break with delicious home made plum cake then half way through the course, lunch. Home made quiche with melt in the mouth pastry, chicken, salad, home made coleslaw and potatoes, absolutely delicious, top marks to Shane. Back to our work bench to finish and polish our piece of silver, all of us were really chuffed with the quality of our finished rings. Before we left, a tour of the stunning private B&B complete with hot tub overlooking the views of Bedar. Many thanks Clare and Shane for a great day and making us all welcome, brilliant. Looking forward to going back for more courses and a special anniversary night in the B&B with the hubby is on the cards

I joined a class on one day course to make coiled ring. Tuition by Claire was first class, and I was amazed at the quality of my finished product. I had never done anything similar before. Clare ensured that we all met a good standard. Shane kept the group feed and watered, with delicious goodies and lunch.
Nola from Spain - December, 2018
Where do I start! Yes 5 stars from us. I found out about the B&B from an earlier visit for the silver jewellery course. Which was just fantastic. I went with one friend and left with many it was such a great day learning how to make a silver ring. Clare was very thorough and I realised that the skills she was showing us would benefit us later when we attended the half day courses. Oh I have to mention the lunch that Shane prepared was absolutely gorgeous and in our coffee break hand made shortbread. The food was just divine. On having a tour of the building and seeing how they had renovated the upstairs to a B&B I wanted to book for our wedding anniversary but I did not want to wait till Dec so we booked it in Sept. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel so welcome. Loved the small detail that provides you everything in your room. Yes we had TV in the private lounge and bedroom but no we did not need it. Hot tub all afternoon-with a bottle of Cava was just the ticket. A home cooked meal was just so deliciously made ribs to die for! I hardly found room for (Shane’s light) Lemon Cheesecake. Honestly I do not think I could recommend this enough it was the perfect place to relax and would not hesitate-to book again. Thank you both for such an incredible stay. Truly magical xxx

My partner and I have just come back from a week’s stay at the beautiful Castellon de Bedar, where we enjoyed the jewellery workshop too! As we walked through the authentic Spanish village, Shane and Clare the owners, walked us through their beautiful planted patio and into their stunning Spanish house. We were shown to our own quarters with a bedroom, lounge, shower room and balcony. The BnB is decorated to the highest of standards and all our needs were taken care of... coffee's and teas, fresh water, toiletries, slippers, etc. The view from our balcony was breath-taking... in a beautiful Spanish village surrounded by mountains, and you could even see as far as the ocean. It was completely tranquil.

We had freshly cooked breakfast every day from the hosts, including freshly-squeezed juice using locally picked oranges - definitely a must-try! A few nights we enjoyed dinner at Castellon where Shane cooked his famous paella dish and a fish dish, recommending the best local wines to suit too. The food was so fresh and to such a high standard - we felt like we were in paradise as we sat on our balcony enjoying beautiful food with tasty Spanish wine, surrounded by candles and magnificent views. We also later had a dip in their hot tub with a glass of Prosecco, in case we weren’t being spoilt enough already!
As part of our package we had a workshop with Clare and made our own rings. Clare was so patient and taught us at our own pace. We ended up making beautiful pieces of jewellery which really topped off the week and meant we had a souvenir to take home.
Bedar village has some great little restaurants and bars just walking distance from Castellon. And then a short ride away is several beautiful towns which have lots going on and lots to do! The location really is ideal and has so many amenities close by. Whether you want a peaceful stay or to explore what the beautiful island has to offer, this is the perfect spot. And not far from the airport either!
When Shane and Clare dropped us back to the airport, we are very sad to leave but have since booked to come back! Hopefully my jewellery skills are still up to scratch!
Thank you for a wonderful stay both, absolutely highly recommended xDate of experience: June 2018Ask Jessica May B about Castellon de BedarJoanne from Thames London - December, 2018
We spent the night at Castellon de Bedar and what a wonderful time we had. Clare and Shane have thought of everything to make your stay such a treat, from the bottle of cava on arrival to watching the stars from the hot tub at the end of the evening. The whole place is just brimming over with style and luxury - the best night's sleep ever is guaranteed and followed by a very tasty breakfast, cooked by Shane. Such a lovely place to visit and you can even buy a gorgeous silver trinket, made by Clare, before you reluctantly leave! Don't hesitate to book to stay and/or try one of the courses run by Clare.

I was one of Clare’s first pupils and have been going to her fabulous workshop for nearly a year. I have always loved Jewellry, up cycling and generally making something out of nothing but I never realised the full extent of what I could actually design and make until I discovered Clare. Coming from an educational background myself of over 23 years and also being an accredited assessor and knowing what makes a good teacher I have to say she is the best I have ever encountered. She is so patient, encouraging and supportive and stretches your skills, designs and general knowledge in a such an unassuming way.
Being a terribly impatient individual clare has taught me that even filing and polishing is therapy and worth the extra time and patience.
I have also met some lovely people who I now consider to be friends.
I have made some beautiful pieces, lovely bespoke Xmas presents and even (without telling my husband) took all the stones out of my engagement ring and melted down the white gold and make another stunning ring. As my father would have said “she hides her light under a bushel “ as she never talks about her celebrity clients, royal connections and fantastic achievements. We are truly honoured to have such a wonderful treasure amongst us. I had best mention Shane also, as his culinary delights catering for all needs is outstanding and his jovial personality and sense of humour a great addition too hahaWendy from Spain - December, 2018
A year ago I had the privilege of beginning a fine jewelry course in Bedar with the greatest teacher ever Clare Purt.
Clare is a very patient, kind and talented silversmith. She instills confidence and has encouraged me to make some very difficult pieces in silver and copper.
The first class everyone makes a silver ring, and the camaraderie with the other students is wonderful as we are all in the same boat.
I am not artistic but since my first class I have made a Phoenix pendant, necklaces with pearls and glass pieces, earrings and most of my Christmas presents.
A few months ago I did a master class and made a 8 prong Rex claw setting which I made into a ring.
I am thrilled that we have this treasure in our village, it is very therapeutic being of that age of post menopause. I would highly recommend this class.
Not only do we get expert teaching, but we get coffee and delicious cake made by Shane a different one each week.
Clare also does one on one classes and that is a great experience and one gets lunch cooked by Shane.
I hope Santa treats me to staying in their luxury bed and breakfast suite, I think I have been good.
My husband is thinking of joining the class and yes there are 4 male students who make some wonderful pieces.
Cannot imagine not having this in my life, I am so much calmer since I began the classes.
Highly recommend joining these classes you won’t be disappointed.
Thank you so much Shane and ClareClaire from Kent - December, 2018
Spent a week with Clare and Shane, exploring my creative side and learning techniques used in silversmithing. Clare is an extremely knowledgeable lady who is willing to share her skills, supporting and encouraging her pupils in all aspects of the jewellery trade. I came away feeling inspired to continue with my interest and I plan to return for another creative day to build on my current knowledge. Please take a look at the days and courses on offer. If you choose a class you will not be disappointed.
Natasha from Singapore - December, 2018
Being what one would class as creatively inept, I was somewhat sceptical about Clare’s assertions that I would be able to make a silver ring at the beginners day. I actually signed up for further classes, as the beginners day had been so enjoyable – the professional, patient and calm tutoring of Clare (which must’ve been like herding cats!) and the fantastic array of food and vino from Shane (oh and his comedy banter!)!
I amazed myself at the fantastic things I created in the jewellery classes. Credit has to go, wholeheartedly, to Clare, as there is no way I would have been able to create the beautiful jewellery that I did without her support. I mean why on earth would someone who can’t see particularly well decide to make an intricate feather pendant??!! Absolute lunacy! But I did! The times I was on the verge of tears, wanting to quit because I thought I couldn’t do it but Clare was there, calm and encouraging telling me I could, knowing that I could! She was right!
So even if you think you are, like me, creatively inept, trust me, you will amaze yourself at the beautiful things you can produce. It really is quite amazing! I cannot recommend Castellon de Bedar highly enough!!
